Can you give me tips for my bbq? ?

Posted on Tuesday, December 13th, 2011

I’m having it this sat. Starting at 3pm but it seems like the weather has been pretty hot. See I’m gonna be grilling on the balcony and people will be eating inside. Or do you think I should have it outside downstairs from my apt? I believe only a handful of people will show up. Say 15.
Oh so my question is should I start the bbq later? Like a late bbq.

A BBQ outside is always fun, no matter how hot it is. Unless you have some fun games or something inside. With that few people, they probably have plans for the rest of the night anyway. Three p.m. sounds like a great time and have it outside. And have a bunch of ice cold drinks!

BBQ’s are tough to plan. However, I always hated when people would have BBQ’s then we would eat inside. A traditional BBQ should be held outside in my opinion, I guess I’m just weird like that. I would find out when most of the people can come over, then you can plan your cooking that way. There is nothing worse than having to eat already cooked hot dogs or hamburgers or whatever, that has been sitting for awhile because the cook decided to cook way earlier than most people eat. If your apartment complex has a picnic area then use that. It’s tough to have a successful BBQ at an apartment because its a small place to have a lot of people. I would plan on having it a bit later and outside. Provide some coolers with some ice in it for cool drinks, and if its hot, you’ll be OK.

When I lived in an apartment, I had my barbecue’s at a nearby park. We could then play softball, hike, etc. I did carry in bbq’s, where everyone brought something.

Make sure you or a reliable friend bring the basics. I had a couple of folks flake out and we had to run to the store, which isn’t fun.

The links below have some great ideas for barbecues, too.

What apartment allows you to grill on a balcony anymore?
That is a rarity for sure, so enjoy it while it lasts.
I don’t know where it is hot in late October, but maybe ribs would be fun, if not chicken, beans, salad, and rolls.
